How the New South Wales Home Battery Rebate Works
The rebate is applied at point of sale through approved retailers. There is no separate application — the installer claims it on your behalf. Discounts typically range from $1,600 for systems under 10 kWh up to $4,000 for larger systems enrolled in qualifying VPP networks.
Eligibility Requirements
- ✓ NSW residential property owner or tenant (with landlord approval)
- ✓ Property must have an existing solar PV system, or solar installed at the same time
- ✓ Battery system must be purchased from an approved NSW Cheaper Batteries Program supplier
- ✓ Battery must be enrolled in an approved VPP (Virtual Power Plant) program
