Overview
XPeng is one of China’s leading EV technology companies, distinguished from volume Chinese brands by its focus on advanced driver assistance systems (XNGP), AI-powered features, and an in-house developed 800V platform. The G6 is XPeng’s mid-size SUV, designed specifically for the international market with right-hand drive development taken seriously.
The 800V charging architecture in the G6 Standard enables 10 to 80 per cent charge in approximately 20 minutes at a compatible 300kW station — competitive with the Hyundai-Kia E-GMP platform’s performance. In Australia, where ultra-rapid charging infrastructure is expanding, this capability is increasingly relevant for interstate driving.

Verdict
The G6 Standard is for technology-focused buyers who want 800V charging speed and advanced ADAS in a mid-size SUV at a mainstream price. XPeng’s technology credentials are genuine — the XNGP system is among the most capable driver assistance packages available in this price bracket. The brand’s Australian service infrastructure is the pragmatic concern.
